“I have been a regular visitor to Udavum Karangal for the past one decade. And I celebrate my grand children’s birthdays at Udavum Karangal every year. It is really mind boggling to see the happiness on the faces of these deprived children. I personally feel that instead of giving offerings in the temple, if we can relieve a few people from the fangs of hunger God would be immensely happy”.
Mrs. Koomarasurya, Retd. Teacher
First, one sees a heroic level of caring for those most cut off from society, including the HIV positive, mentally ill, mentally handicapped, and destitute elderly people waiting to die. These people have no one to treat them with dignity, and yet the volunteers at Udavum Karangal do just that. The second feeling is one of tremendous hope for the children, taken from dustbins or from the clutches of dogs on the street. Udavum Karangal gives them not only survival but a chance at an education. These children had nothing when they came to Udavum Karangal but now have a chance at a full life, supported by volunteers who love them. Finally, speaking, it is very gratifying to know that so much can be done here with even a modest contribution. I expect to continue to support Udavum Karangal to the best of my ability for a long time to come."

"For a man whose ideal is Mother Teresa, Vidyakar's work is, I feel, even superior because it never ever had a religious base. This is an institution where God's love is fully reflected in the residents, where abandoned human beings are treated with dignity and love".
Mr. Parthasarathy - retired DGM, SBI / adviser - Apeejay Group of Industries
“The services rendered by Udavum Karangal towards the upliftment of discarded children is incredible,” says
Dr. Radha Rajagopalan, Director Medical Education, Apollo
Hospital. “ We are amazed at the number of babies they have picked up from undesirable places and takes care of these children in a very meticulous manner” she adds.
"Being associated with Udavum Karangal for the past 10 years, I find the institution totally dedicated to the welfare of the unfortunate. To my knowledge, it is the only institution doing such good work" -
Rajendran - Proprietor, Jayabharatham Furnitures

Hello Sir, yes! speaking is easier but when it comes to implementation I really do understand the problems you would be facing. I am from a middle class family and I know how difficult it was for my parents to bring us up. Hence I can imagine how difficult it would be to manage so many kids with so much of affection. Since my first visit to your place, my imagination about the whole concept of how a service organization will work changed. You are not just providing the basic necessities (food, dress and a shelter to rest) of any living being but, taking care of them with so much of affection. I too wish to give the kids some knowledge, strength and support to unearth the hidden talents in them, to the best of my ability. I am planning to visit Chennai sometime around end of this month, so, would bring some kids entertainment and educational VCD’s along with me. Hoping to meet you soon.
Best Regards,
Angelina D John - Our Well wisher
“For the last four years, birthdays of all our family members are being celebrated at Udavum Karangal with the resident children. It gives immense satisfaction and happiness to be with the children and to have food along with them,” says famous
Tamil movie actor Suriya.
Some of you may recall my talking about the work done by Udavum Karangal during my talks. I have known Mr. Vidyaakar for many years and I have appreciated him in my books and Sun TV lectures for the exemplary care that is given in Udavum Karangal to destitute infants, children and adults with unconditional love and compassion. A visit to their premises can be a truly a heartwarming in many ways. I would encourage you to make some time to visit their facility. It is very comforting and satisfying to see how well the organization is being maintained and how well the residents are being cared for. The smiles on the faces of the children speaks volumes about their feeling of security, safety and the fact that they are loved and cared.

I met Mr. Vidyaakar for the first in his Anna Nagar office with a few volunteers. That day I also had the opportunity to see the little angels…abandoned infants…. in the cribs. Older children were placed in different rented houses according to their ages and the rest of the members were in make - shift shelters. I was moved by the sincere services rendered by the volunteer’s and Mr. Vidyaakar. My late parents enjoyed visiting and playing with the children and other members of my family got involved in helping the children. All the residents in Udavum Karangal became our extended family.
