Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan

Udavum Karangal was started in 1983 with one child, over the years the number kept on increasing As Udavum Karangal’s major focus is on children, their future & welfare & it’s working with a mission to IMPACT the lives of less privileged children enabling them to increase their potential & change the pattern of life. Only a strong educational foundation will help equip children for a better future. With this concept Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan a value based school with 150 children and 7 teachers up to primary level was launched in the year 1997. The school was upgraded as Higher Secondary level in 1999. The School is approved by the Tamil Nadu State Government and follows the state board syllabus 

About 1700 students (inclusive of 350 students from Udavum Karangal ) are studying in Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan, Thiruverkadu . The School is now catering 32 neighbouring villages from LKG to 12th Standard with all infrastructures suited to modern education & the school has the state of Art, Science & Computer Laboratory.

This achievement is absolutely attributed to the dedicated service and untiring efforts of the faculty & management team of U.K. besides the Founder’s continuous efforts & follow up. RVN in addition to the education it imparts the following

Udavum Karangal extends a gracious help for two hundred community children under the ‘ANNALAKSHMI’ Scheme providing midday meal in the school campus. These Children hail from deprived families and are unable to bring lunch packets from their home. We have identified the most deserving children and started providing mid-day meal to these children with the support of public contribution towards this cause.

School – Location & Environment :

The Location is around 20 kilometers from the city on the NH – 5 and 3 kilometers from the Thiruverkadu entrance arch of the well-known Karumariamman Temple. The area is a pleasant rural cum urban friendly atmosphere with an unpolluted air and with sweet drinking water. The school located in an area of 5 acres with modern structure, elegant look & a typical school approach with a well maintained garden & green belt around the school. Broad and ventilated class rooms with comfortable furniture & lighting, the large Playground, Laboratories with all infrastructures, and an open-air auditorium with a permanent dais and audio system are the special features of the school. Apart from the above a hygienic dining hall, regulated drinking water & toilet facilities for students and finally a good collection of books in a well maintained library are also provided.

The school achieved 100% result in the board examinations in the years 2001-2002 & 2002-2003. In the year 2003-2004 the school secured 98% result.

School’s Activities & Achievements for the Academic year of 2004 – 05 :

Sports : The school participated in many of the best competitions, district level tournaments with creditable victories and also attained the Recognition at the district level from sports authorities. In the SRM Higher Secondary School Open Sports Meet, our students participated in junior & senior level & secured trophies and medals.

Extra-curricular Activities : On the Independence Day, with Dr. Suresh & Dr. Anuradha Suresh as chief guests, the students conducted a magnificent parade with highly decorated Taboos. 

• During Devi Karumariamman Temple Annual Festival, around 150 students participated in the cultural programmes.
• In Nagercoil, students participated in ‘Vande Mataram’ Drawing Competition and the school was awarded as the best school in the State Level with 8 medals & 14 first prizes.
• In Ponneri District Level Science Exhibition & Cultural Programmes, 120 students participated & won 2 first prizes and 3 second prizes.
• A team of 107 students participated in the devotional cultural programme conducted at Thirutani Arulmighu Subramaniya Swami Temple. Similarly Navrathri Pooja and the Thiruvembavai Recitation, our students participated and gained good admiration.
• In the Public Speaking Contest conducted at Thiruverkadu SKDJ School, our students won the Third Prize.
• In Conclusion, the following achievements are really great at this academic year 2004 - 05, very worth mentioning :

1. The state inspection authorities of the school have recorded a very valuable appreciation the RVN school deserves for the best method of conducting the school.
2. During the year, we should not fail to mention the students participation in around 40 cultural programmes and securing prizes up to second grade level in all programmes.

A girl student by name S. Saranya has secured on the national educational level incentive scholarship by the Govt. of India.
