orphaned or abandoned due to the grim realities of life. Children thus abandoned or orphaned are taken under our care on getting information. These children are cared and given a life at Udavum Karangal and you can see here how they are cared and transformed..
People
with Mental Disability: Mental disability happens due to various reasons. The most important medication for mental disability is love and care. Majority of the families do not understand this factor and isolates the patients. This aggravates their disability and the patient becomes unmanageable. They are chased out of the family or discarded at faraway places. We, at Udavum Karangal rescue such destitute psychiatric patients and rehabilitate them. The Discarded Aged: The onset of old age awakens, in every human being, a sense of insecurity and helplessness. The aged require a lot of physical and emotional support from their kith and kin but the younger generation has neither time nor inclination to support the aged. Some people neither want to look after their aged parents nor do they want to spend money to keep them in old age homes. They just discard or chase the aged out of their house. Udavum Karangal is committed not only to give a dignified life to these aged but also a dignified death and last rights. Some of the aged who are leading a dignified life under our care are here.
Extended Family: Udavum Karangal’s responsibility doesn’t stop just by bringing up a
child and providing basic education. We also get them into the mainstream of life. So far twenty-six girls have been married and they are leading a family life. Lot more boys are now working in different places. See our extended family
Public Involvement: Public support is the
back bone of Udavum Karangal. We strongly believe that public participation helps to boost the morale of the residents. Often child sponsors and feeding sponsors spent time with our children. This helps to develop a bonding between the child and sponsor. Your involvement in any form is a precious to us. Here is how people involve themselves.
