An exclusive home for caring orphaned HIV positive children. There are 18 positive children who are cared in this home. There are one year old to 14 year old children who have been looked after lovingly and carefully by four volunteers.

The most victimized by AIDS are the little ones who are rendered destitute/orphans overnight for no fault of theirs. AIDS victims are normally treated as castaways not only by their families, but also by the society at large. They do live but just exist!

At Udavum Karangal they are provided with shelter, palliative care, and treatment. All of them are being provided with a home where they are wanted and looked after with utmost care. Here children attend regular school along with the community and they are not isolated. The center also provides them with health education and group therapies to lead their life meaningfully.

Saleem Vidyaakar: Saleem almost witnessed his parents dying little by little. Being a young child he was unable to understand what dying means. But his parents had already infected him with AIDS. Ever since the death of his parents he is under the compassionate care of Udavum Karangal. Saleem a well-behaved and highly obedient child always has a smile on his face.

Sangeetha & Ramesh’s parents died of AIDS and their relatives were not willing to care for these children. Both of them were admitted in Udavum Karangal ten years ago by a well wisher. Both are intelligent and doing well in their studies. These children are being administered Anti Retro Viral Medicines regularly and are showing remarkable improvement in their health condition.

Anusha is from a respectable family. She along with her HIV infected mother was admitted to our home about six years back and the mother passed away 3 years back. Since then Anusha is under our care and treatment. Her father also came to us a few months with full blown AIDS and passed away in few days time. Anusha is a bold girl and studies well
