Educational Activities (Expansion of School)
Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan as on today imparts value based education to about 1400 children belonging to economically weak families in the neighbouring villages, apart from our own 350 children. During every academic year a number of financially unsound parents approach us requesting admission for their children in our school. As lack of facilities do not allow us to admit more children we have to painfully turn down the request of these hapless parents. In view of helping these deserving children we intend to build additional ten class rooms which would allow us to give education to more number of children. The built up area of the additional block will be around 6500 sq ft. and the total construction cost will be Rs.26,00,000/-
Chennai School of Social work:
Propose to establish a residential institute to train young and committed persons to take up social work as their career. Most of the colleges are offering only post graduate courses in Social Work. People who finish this course normally look for lucrative jobs like HR positions in corporates
etc., and do not choose to do field work or any community
development work. At present almost all NGOs are feeling the
dearth for good social workers. Hence we decided to start an
undergraduate course for Social Work.
Home Care Nursing:
As a part of vocational training programme for our own resident girls and also for school drop out girls from the neighbouring
villages, we intend to start a 3-month duration, Home Care
Nursing Course. These girls would be taught First Aid,
Monitoring Blood Pressure, Temperature, Pulse etc., giving
injections, dressing the wounds, Maternity assistance, and
Geriatric care.
Health care Activities
Udavum Karangal has all its facilities at Thiruverkadu Village. This village is about 19
km away from the city. Whenever there is a medical emergency arise to our patients, they have to travel minimum 10
km to reach the nearest hospital.
Most of the people in this village, and also in the neighbouring villages belong to lower income group and economically weak section. The villagers have to depend on Government Hospitals for any ailment as the private clinics are far beyond their reach. As the government hospitals are far away most of the time timely medical attention is denied to them.
Hence for providing timely medical care for our residents as well as for the villagers we propose to build a
75 bed hospital in different phases in 5 acres of land, at an estimated cost of
Rupees 5 Crores.
